Coming together as a team, let's take a moment to pause (10 secs), and let's begin with a quote from...
John 13:16 - "Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him."
And from
Pope Francis - "Human Dignity is the same for all human beings: when I trample on the dignity of another, I am trampling on my own."
These quotes show the value of empathy. Empathy is a great way to live Dignity, making it real in our lives today! So, as we reflect today, let's refresh our memories on the meaning of Dignity, and take a closer look at how empathy brings it to life.
Dignity
Dignity means, Respect for the worth of every person, recognition and commitment to the value of diverse individuals and perspectives, and special concerns for the poor and underserved.
We know there are many ways to live Dignity; so let's focus on just one, Empathy.
So let's ask ourselves this question...
When have I placed myself in someone else's shoes? Pause 10-20 sec before moving on.
I'd like to invite us all to make Empathy a reality in our lives today by...
Beyond asking, 'How are you today?" Ask your patient or coworker one question that might help them share how they are feeling.
Empathy isn't new to CHRISTUS Health, in fact, we see this same type of Dignity in our heritage...
