Coming together as a team, let's take a moment to pause (10 secs), and let's begin with a quote from...
James 5: 7-8- "Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains. 8 You too must be patient."
And from...
Fulton Sheen- "Patience is power. Patience is not an absence of action; rather it is "timing" it waits on the right time to act, for the right principles and in the right way."
These quotes show the value of patience. Patience is a great way to live Compassion, making it real in our lives today! So, as we reflect today, let's refresh our memories on the meaning of Compassion, and take a closer look at how patience brings it to life.
Compassion
Compassion means, Service in a spirit of empathy, love, and concern
We know there are many ways to live Compassion; so let's focus on just one, patience.
So, let's ask ourselves this question ..
Do I notice that I give better quality care when I take my time? Pause 10-20 sec before moving on.
I'd like to invite us all to make patience a reality in our lives today by...
Taking time for others by finishing my conversations with the question "Is anything more I can do?"
Patience isn't new to CHRISTUS Health, in fact, we see this same type of Compassion in our heritage...
Did you know that an Athletic Trainer from CHRISTUS Good Shepherd, always takes his time with patients? He is known to drive 45 minutes to get an athlete the test or treatment they need in order to play. He takes the time to explain how the healthcare system works and goes out of his way to ensure his patients understand their injury and the treatment necessary to return to playing the sport they love. As a result, he keeps up with patients he treated more than 15 years ago.
