Coming together as a team, let's take a moment to pause (10 secs), and let's begin with a quote from...
Deuteronomy 31:8- "The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."
And from..
Rick Warren- "Kindness always starts with noticing the needs and hurts of others."
These quotes show the value of Being Mindful. Being Mindful is a great way to live Dignity, making it real in our lives today! So, as we reflect today, let's refresh our memories on the meaning of Dignity, and take a closer look at how Being Mindful brings it to life.
Dignity
Dignity means, Respect for the worth of every person, recognition and commitment to the value of diverse individuals and perspectives, and special concerns for the poor and underserved.
We know there are many ways to live Dignity; so let's focus on just one, Being Mindful.
So, let's ask ourselves this question...
Do I notice when a person is lonely? Pause 20sec before moving on.
I'd like to invite us all to make Being Mindful a reality in our lives today by...
Checking in on a lonely person to show that we care.
Being Mindful isn't new to CHRISTUS Health, in fact, we see this same type of Dignity in our heritage...
Did you know that a Director of Case Management from CHRISTUS Santa Rosa, sought out the lonely in our hospitals? They work very closely with our uninsured, unfunded, and underinsured patients, and these patients hold a special place in her heart. There are many days they will stay late on Fridays, come in early on Saturdays, or any day to ensure our patients have the resources they need to be discharged. They hold the "homeless bag" program near and dear to their heart, coordinating and collecting different items for our homeless patients, ensuring they have supplies to go home with to bathe and stay warm.
