Coming together as a team, let's take a moment to pause (10 secs), and let's begin with a quote from..
Philippians 2: 3-4- "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility consider one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others."
And from...
St. Benedict- "No one should follow what he considers to be good for himself, but rather what seems good for another."
These quotes show the value of Willingness To Learn. Willingness To Learn is a great way to live Dignity, making it real in our lives today! So, as we reflect today, let's refresh our memories on the meaning of Dignity, and take a closer look at how Willingness To Learn brings it to life.
Dignity
Dignity means, Respect for the worth of every person, recognition and commitment to the value of diverse individuals and perspectives, and special concerns for the poor and underserved.
We know there are many ways to live Dignity; so let's focus on just one, Willingness To Learn.
So, let's ask ourselves this question ..
How have I been uplifted by someone showing me respect? Pause 20 sec before moving on.
I'd like to invite us all to make Willingness To Learn a reality in our lives today by...
Treating someone as more important than myself.
Willingness To Learn isn't new to CHRISTUS Health, in fact, we see this same type of Dignity in our heritage...
Did you know that a Chaplain at CHRISTUS St. Vincent, truly cares about her patients? She was once called to visit with a patient who had experienced a major medical incident and was also grieving the loss of her beloved pet. An animal lover herself, she recognized the deep pain the patient was experiencing. Before heading to the patient room, she stopped by the gift shop and purchased a stuffed animal to bring with her which gave the patient much needed comfort.
