Inclusion isn't new to CHRISTUS Health, in fact, we see this same type of Compassion in our heritage...
At Christus Santa-Rosa, an associate took time with a particular patient that really needed someone close to her. She was lonely and scared of what the future might hold. This associate would have to balance answering the phone and juggling other patients while going in and out of her room. All the while, she had a calm, compassionate presence for someone who desperately needed another human to notice her.
"Lord, I know a person can be in a crowd and still feel alone. Help me recognize those who are lonely and need a little more joy. After an encounter with me, I want them to remember that I enjoyed them, heard them and treated them well. Please show me the way. Amen. "
